Dear Parents/Guardians, De La Salle College will be holding its annual and popular It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas day on Friday 11th December.

Pupils are encouraged to wear non –uniform, providing they wear something festive such as; a Christmas jumper, Christmas tie, Santa hat, Christmas T-shirt or shirt etc. Suggested donations for participating pupils are as follows:

  • Key Stage 3/4: £3.00

  • Key Stage 5: £5.00

  • Families: £5.00

  • Staff: £10.00

All proceeds will be donated to our Christmas Charity Appeal and the beneficiaries will be local charities including;

  • St. Vincent de Paul

  • West and South Belfast Food Bank

  • Welcome Centre

  • Morning Star Hostel

I hope your son will participate and help generate a festive atmosphere within the school but more significantly, show the true spirit of Christmas supporting the less fortunate in our community in these surreal and challenging times.

Pupils will remain in their bubbles and designated zones adhering to all our Covid regulations on this festive day.

Many thanks for your anticipated support. Yours sincerely, ______________________ Paul Buchanan

Dear Parent/Guardian

End of Term Arrangements

Please note: full attendance is important in the run up to Christmas on days when the pupils are required to be in school. However, due to staffing constraints, a rota system for home learning will continue next week:

  • Year 8: Monday 7 December 2020 (back 8 December)

  • Year 9: Tuesday 8 December 2020 (back 9 December)

  • Year 10: Wednesday 9 December 2020 (back 10 December)

  • Year 11: Thursday 10 December 2020 (back 11 December)

Friday 11 December will be our festive charity day organized by Mr Buchanan to raise funds for local charities. All pupils will be in school on that day for what is normally a fantastic community event.

Winter Mock examinations, exam preparation and coursework clinics for those pupils in Years 11-14 will take place from Monday 14th December to Friday 18th December inclusive. Grades will be recorded during this time period to evaluate progress during term 1 and provide support for external examinations in January 2021. To allow for effective social distancing in school during this week, only pupils in Year 11 to Year 14 are required to attend.

Pupils in Year 8 to Year 10 have been completing winter assessments in class over the past few weeks. From the week beginning 14th December work will be provided to complete at home, either in a learning pack or on Google Classrooms. If this creates any difficulties, you can email the appropriate Key Stage Manager or SENCO, as appropriate, to request a phone call:

  • Head of Key Stage 3: Mrs Healy mhealy657@c2kni.net

  • Head of Key Stage 4: Mrs Ennis lennis191@c2kni.net

  • Head of Key Stage 5: Mr Tohill jtohill462@c2kni.net

  • SENCO: Mrs Rodgers orodgers437@c2kni.net

School finishes half day on 22 December 2020, subject to any changes issued by the Department of Education. Parents will receive their son’s KS3 Annual Report at the end of January. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the school if you require further information, advice or support regarding your son’s progress. Thank you for your continuing support and co-operation.

Yours faithfully Mrs Claire White
